Strasheim hired as GM in North Iowa

July 15, 2008

The North Iowa Outlaws announced today that Steve Strasheim has been named the team's new general manager.

Strasheim replaces Rick Wesp, who held the position since the Outlaws’ inaugural season of 2005-06.

Wesp, who was named NAHL General Manager of the Year this past season, will remain with the Outlaws as the club’s director of hockey operations.

“Steve has a lot of experience which we look to draw on to take us to the next level,” said Outlaws owner Mark Motz.

Strasheim joins the Outlaws after spending the previous five seasons with the NAHL’s Fargo-Moorhead Jets.

“The first priority for me is to continue the great tradition that these guys have started here,” said Strasheim. “Mason City was one of the toughest places for Fargo to play the last couple of years; the fans were quite intimidating for our guys to play against, so I’m glad I’m on their side now.”

Strasheim will begin his duties with the Outlaws immediately.

“Fans can expect to see some new things this season when they come out to a game,” he said.

Strasheim is the first of a few new faces that will be added to the Outlaws’ staff this summer. The search has already begun for a radio broadcaster, as well as various sales and marketing positions.
