Montesano named radio voice in North Iowa
The North Iowa Outlaws have announced that Scott Montesano has been named the team's new director of communications and radio/Internet play-by-play announcer.
A veteran baseball and hockey announcer, Montesano comes to the Outlaws with three years of NAHL experience, spending time as the play-by-play announcer for the Fargo-Moorhead Jets from 2004-07 where he called two division titles and one national championship runner-up finish.
With the Jets, Montesano also supervised the team's internship program, handled sales, media relations and promotions, all of which he will assist with in North Iowa.
“Scott is a great addition to the Outlaws staff and the fans will love his enthusiasm and energy he brings to the day-to-day operation,” said Outlaws general manager Steve Strasheim.
Montesano is also an accomplished baseball announcer, having spent the past three summers as the play-by-play voice of the Eau Claire (Wis.) franchise in the Northwoods League, a position he will keep during the Outlaws’ off-season.
He spent last winter calling high school sports, along with Division III college football, basketball and hockey for Clear Channel Radio in Eau
Claire.
A native of Utica, N.Y., Montesano is a 2004 graduate of Marist College.
