Former Minnesota forward Johnston makes NCAA plans
The Minnesota Flying Aces, proud members of the North American 3 Hockey League (3HL) are proud to announce that former forward Liam Johnston will be a member of the Gustavus Adolphus Men’s Hockey team, where he will play NCAA Division III hockey for the Golden Gusties this season. Gustavus is a NCAA Division III hockey team part of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).
Johnston, a former standout, from Willmar, Minnesota, played in 46 games, for the Flying Aces, last season. He finished the season with 24 goals, 10 assists and 34 points. Liam also played for the NA3HL team West, during the 2012 3HL Top Prospects tournament, scoring 1 goal in four games.
Flying Aces head coach Craig Larson, remarked... “Liam has always had the goal of playing college hockey in mind, throughout his whole journey, in Junior hockey. He’s a very dedicated student athlete and has worked extremely hard, on and off the ice, to prepare himself for this great opportunity.
Gustavus isn’t only getting a good hockey player, but an outstanding person, who will personally push to himself and the people around him, to get better.” Coach Larson also added, “Liam, who he is and how he plays, is the perfect example of what we want for all our players. He was a great locker room guy and an outstanding team mate.”
