Bobcats' Clark commits to Army

November 30, 2008

The Bismarck Bobcats have announced that second-year defenseman John Clark has committed to Army (Atlantic Hockey) for next season.

The Bobcats’ captain, Clark, a 19-year-old from Baudette, Minn., has 10 assists this season to go along with a plus-14 rating.

At West Point, Clark will be joined by his older brother, Jay Clark, a former North Iowa Outlaw and currently a sophomore goaltender for the Black Knights.

“Jay told me to commit if that’s where I wanted to play, and after going there to visit West Point, it was the right place for me,” said Clark.

“He made sure I understood what I’m getting into by committing to the Army and I’ve always wanted to be a part of something bigger then myself.”

With his college choice made, Clark is concentrating solely on the task at hand in Bismarck.

“By committing now to Army, it allows me to focus more on the team goals and our success rather than my own,” said Clark.

Clark is the second player from this year’s Bobcats to commit to a Division I school; goaltender David Bosner has already committed to the Air Force Academy.

“Johnny has worked hard the past two seasons,” said Bobcats head coach Byron Pool. “It’s great to see him get an opportunity to play at the next level.”
