North Iowa Bulls 5 vs. Twin Cities Northern Lights 1
The NA3HL’s North Iowa Bulls rolled through another opponent on Saturday and this time it was the MNJHL’s Twin Cities Northern Lights as the Bulls used another fast start to win in domination fashion, 5-1. The win moved the Bulls to 3-0 as they clinched the National Division. They have outscored their opponents, 17-3. They move onto Sunday’s National Semi-Finals against the Helena Bighorns, the 2nd place finisher in the American Division.
Kyle Krueger gave North Iowa a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the 1st period and it took just a minute later for the Bulls to grab a 2-0 lead as Tim Santopoalo scored. Twin Cities would add a late goal in the 1st period to make it 2-1 at the end of one period.
The 2nd period was all Bulls as the lead swelled to 4-1. First, it was Richie Marenis scoring, followed by a goal from Patrick Sivets.
Sivets would add his second of the game in the 3rd period to make it 5-1. North Iowa outshot Twin Cities 49-25 in the game. Bryan McFarlane had three assists and Matt Bartels made 24 saves in the win.
The Bulls will now face the Helena Bighorns on Sunday, April 7th at 6:00pm. In the other Semi-Final, Twin Cities will play the Atlanta Jr. Knights.
