The Granite City Lumberjacks, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that forward Hunter Schneider, 18, has signed an NAHL tender with the Janesville Jets. The Jets are members of the NAHL’s North Division.
The native of Willmar, Minnesota joined the Lumberjacks in late February this past season after completing his high school career. In the eight regular season games he played with Granite City, he recorded at least a point in all eight games and had 11 points (7 goals, 4 assists) overall.
His best stretch of games came in early March when he was honored as the NA3HL’s #2 star of the week on March 5th. In four games during the week, Schneider (5’9/150) had seven points, including five goals. He has scored at least a goal in all five games played to date with the Lumberjacks and has a total of eight points.
“For a kid that was right out of high school, Hunter really fit in well with our team and has a great skill set,” said Granite City head coach Brad Willner. “He has brought a new, youthful energy back to the team, which is exactly what we needed at that time of year. He is a shifty forward, has a lot of quickness and has a lot of confidence for young kid.”
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which includes one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2013.
