Jake Johnson from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin has added his name to the list of North Iowa Bulls players that have signed an NAHL tender.
Jake has tendered with the Minot Minotauros who were recently bumped from Robertson Cup contention and compete in the NAHL’s Central Division.
Head Coach Todd Sanden remarked… “Jake is a very strong two way player who has the ability to make a difference every night. Jake's style of play will allow him the opportunity to push for a roster spot with the Minotauros.”
Sanden continued… “He brings a physical presence and determination that allowed him to score one of the Bulls biggest goals of the season, the double OT winner in the semi-finals of the USA Hockey Tier III Junior National Championships. Jake was a steady performer for the Bulls with better than a point per game average.”
The North Iowa Bulls organization congratulate Jake Johnson for earning this opportunity and wish him the best of luck in Minot.
Jake Johnson is the 9th player from the 2012-13 North Iowa Bulls to secure a playing opportunity at a higher level.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which includes one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2013.
