The Peoria Mustangs of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are pleased to announce that Ryan Klusendorf has joined the Mustangs’ coaching staff as Assistant Coach.
Ryan began his Junior Hockey career on the inaugural 2000-01 Peoria Mustangs team and was subsequently a two year captain of the Mustangs. Ryan then moved to the Springfield Junior Blues of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and was a member of the Bronze Medal 2004 USA Hockey Tier II National Championship team. He was named Assistant Captain for Springfield’s 2004-05 team.
Ryan then moved to Canisius College (NCAA Division I, Atlantic Hockey) where he was a three time member of the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team and in 2007-08 he also earned the Most Improved Player Award.
After graduating from Canisius with a Master of Science (Sports Administration) and Bachelor of Science (Business Administration), Ryan moved his hockey skills to the bench as Head Coach of the Peoria Junior Rivermen Pee Wee AA team for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons and brought each team to a Top three finish in league playoffs.
Head Coach Steve Ortman says, “We are extremely pleased to have Ryan join our Mustangs’ coaching staff. It’s great to now see former players coming back to the Mustangs to join the coaching staff. Ryan’s hockey and academic progression is a something that we are actively working on for all Mustang players and we are certain that Ryan can bring a great deal to this process. Ryan is a quality guy both on and off the ice and we know that he will make a very positive contribution to the Mustangs’ hockey program.”
