Weekend Wrap-Up: Whalers sweep past Jets

Wisconsin Whalers 4 @ Metro Jets 3: Ryan Martin scored two goals and Jason Hoehn scored a goal and an assist to lead the Wisconsin Whalers to a 4-3 win over the Metro Jets. Michal Marcinek stopped 20 shots to get the win for the Whalers. Zach MacKay scored two points for the Metro Jets and Kevin Shand added his third and fourth points of the weekend. Boxscore

Dallas Jr. Stars 0 @ Topeka Capitals 4: Jude Hull stopped 35 shots for the shutout as the Topeka Capitals beat the Dallas Jr. Stars 4-0. Five Capitals players had multi point games including Kole Hudson who tallied two assists. Topeka came on strong late as they scored three of their four goals in the third period. Chris Mallon stopped 26 Topeka shots during the Jr. Stars loss. Boxscore

St. Louis Jr. Blues 6 @ Chicago Jr. Bulldogs 1: Cooper Cothran stopped 32 shots and Zane O’Bryan scored two goals as the Jr. Blues defeated the Chicago Jr. Bulldogs 6-1. The Jr. Blues converted on two of eight power play opportunities with O’ Bryan and Kyle Meeh scoring the goals. Tyler Dalton scored for the Chicago Jr. Bulldogs and Michael Krch stopped 54 shots in the defeat. Boxscore

Pittsburgh Vengeance 3 @ Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 4: Brendan Logan scored with 16 seconds to go to give the Jr. Lumberjacks the win over the Pittsburgh Vengeance 4-3. Nick Balavich powered the Jr. Lumberjacks offense with a two goals and an assist. The Vengeance and the Jr. Lumberjacks traded goals in the third period until Logan tallied the game winner. Oskar Thorsen opened the game in the first period for the Vengeance and Jason Kumpfmiller stopped 36 shots in the loss. Boxscore

Peoria Mustangs 9 @ Battle Creek Jr. Revolution 1:  Nathan Chasteen scored a natural hat trick and the Peoria Mustangs scored nine straight goals in their victory. The Mustangs got 70 shots on the Battle Creek net and Tyler Babinksi stopped 61 shots for the Jr. Revolution. In addition to the hat trick, Chasteen added three assists to get six points during the game. Sam Turner also scored two goals and an assist for the Mustangs. Boxscore

Flint Junior Generals 6 @ Michigan Mountain Cats 0: Mark McGee scored a goal and two assist as the Flint Junior Generals beat the Michigan Mountain Cats 6-0. In a highly penalized, the Mountain Cats couldn’t score on their 11 opportunities and the Junior Generals converted on two of nine. Zach Koonce and Brett Leppek scored a goal and an assist for the Junior Generals. Walker Bass made 42 saves in defeat for the Mountain Cats. Boxscore
