Day 3: Peoria goes undefeated and Battle Creek wins

Metro Jets 2 @ Peoria Mustangs 7: The Peoria Mustangs went down 2-1 and the found a second gear as they piled in the goals scoring 6 straight on the Metro Jets to win 7-2. After going down by one the Metro Jets received goals from Cooper McLean and Josh Beleski to give Metro a one-goal lead. The Peoria Mustangs offense led by Brennan Anderson and Andrew Scofield, who both tallied two goals, came to life and scored six unanswered goals to end the game. Boxscore

Topeka Capitals 3 @ Battle Creek Jr. Revolution 4: The Battle Creek Jr. Revolution picked up three 1st period goals and held on with great goaltending from Zach Kooi to pick up their first win of the season beating the Topeka Capitals 4-3. Kooi stopped 40 shots including all 13 in the final frame to secure the victory for Topeka. Michael Schmitt was a force on offense for Battle Creek having a hand in each of the first period goals scoring two and assisting on another. Hardijis Kupaks tallied a goal and an assist for the Topeka offense. With the win every team in the NA3HL now has a victory. Boxscore

St. Louis Jr. Blues 4 @ Granite City Lumberjacks 6: In a back and forth game the Granite City Lumberjacks found a way to beat the St. Louis Jr. Blues 6-4. Granite City forward Zac Sikich had two goals and Drew Otto added a goal and an assist in the win. The Lumberjacks chased Jr. Blues starting goalie Clint Steinmeyer out of the net and backup Cooper Cothran came in and stopped all 11 shots he faced in relief. Granite City goaltender Scott Murray stopped 16 shots earning the win. Boxscore

Sugar Land Imperials 4 @ Michigan Mountain Cats 6: The Mountain Cats used 4 straight goals to start the game to power the offense as they beat the Sugar Land Imperials 6-4. Max Vance was the Mountain Cat in charge as he put three in the back of the net to earn the hat trick. Sugar Land forward Avik Bordak got two for the Imperials but it wasn’t enough offense to overpower the Michigan squad. Boxscore

Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 5 @ Breezy Point North Stars 3: It was a hard fought battle till the end when Kyle Gonzales put home an empty net goal and the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks had secured the 5-3 win over the Breezy Point North Stars. Both teams got off to a good start as the first period ended in a tie 2-2. Cleveland goaltender Joseph Moza came off the bench midway through the first period and was spectacular in the net for Cleveland only letting up one goal and stopping 19 to earn the victory. Jon Plaszcz continues his hot play at the Showcase for Breezy Point as he picked up another goal after turning in a four-goal performance the previous game. Boxscore

Minnesota Flying Aces 3 @ Dallas Jr. Stars 4: Chris Mallon was the difference in net for the Dallas Jr. Stars as he stopped 31 shots yesterday to backstop the Jr. Stars to a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Flying Aces. The Jr. Stars received a strong offensive night from Robert Gervino who picked up three assists in the victory. Minnesota forward Anthony Martinez was hot early in this game as he got two goals in the 1st period. Boxscore

Alexandria Blizzard 4 @ Flint Junior Generals 3 (OT): Bo Gronseth didn’t wait long into overtime as he took the puck off the draw and scored 49 seconds into the extra frame to give the Alexandria Blizzard a 4-3 come from behind OT victory. The Blizzard was down 3-1 going into the final frame until goals from Nate Mettenburg and Gronseth tied the game up at 3. Gronseth then got his 2nd of the night to pick up the win for the Blizzard. Flint goaltender Nathan Klebe made 28 saves in defeat and Nick Gnagni scored a goal and added two assists for the Flint offense. Boxscore

North Iowa Bulls 6 @ Cincinnati Swords 1: The North Iowa Bulls showed their depth at offense as six different North Iowa players scored a goal in a 6-1 victory over the Cincinnati Swords. The Bulls went into the 3rd period with a 3-0 lead over the Swords until Cincinnati newcomer Nicholas Riscossa scored on the power play to cut the lead to two. The Bulls came storming back as they got three goals to end the game and continue their undefeated streak. North Iowa goaltender Dylan Parks had a slow night in net only seeing 16 shots and picked up the win. Boxscore

Wisconsin Whalers 2 @ Pittsburgh Vengeance 1 (OT): Brett Gates scored on the power play in overtime after a costly Vengeance penalty to give the Wisconsin Whalers a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Vengeance. The Vengeance took a tripping penalty with less than two minutes left in overtime and Gates made them pay a mere 13 seconds later as he converted to give the Whalers the win. Jason Kumpfmiller was spectacular in defeat for the Vengeance stopping 34 shots throughout the game. Boxscore

Twin City Steel 6 @ Toledo Cherokee 3: The Twin City Steel converted on the power play four times to defeat the Toledo Cherokee 6-3. A trio of Twin City Steel players, Jace Childs, Calvin Miska and Alex Konnov, all had three points to power the Steel. Brody Duncan was the only Cherokee with a multi point game as he scored a goal and an assist. Jordan Moran stopped 21 shots in net for Twin City and picked up the win. Boxscore
